The walk-up teller windows at the Maplewood Branch were opened in 1953, just a few years after the drive-up banking window was added – the first of its kind this side of the Mississippi. Both the drive-up banking and the walk-up banking windows were innovative for their time, offering convenience and extended hours for teller transactions. With the advances in technologies such as ATMs, online banking, mobile banking, and mobile deposit, the demand for the walk-up banking windows decreased. In 2002, the walk-up windows were closed in favor of Saturday lobby hours.

In 2020, we are faced with a global pandemic. Our staff and customers have shifted their attention away from convenience and toward reducing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. At the end of the business day on Friday, March 20th, our lobbies temporarily closed to walk-in traffic to help slow the spread of the virus. While the drive-up lanes were efficient, we realized we were missing the face-to-face interpersonal connections with our customers. With the bank’s passion for customer service, we began to brainstorm ways in which we could bring back personal face-to-face interactions, while remaining safe and distant.

Instantly, we thought re-opening our walk-up teller windows would be something great for our customers, as well as the bank. What was once built for security, with the tellers and the money behind a wall with glass openings, is now ideal for the separation needed to protect against the spread of the virus—what’s old is new! Therefore, we got to work. A few coats of paint, wiring for computers, new signage, and a new concrete walkway were added and suddenly our walk-up banking windows are back in business as of Monday, June 22, 2020

We are excited to once again offer face-to-face service to our valued customers. We have missed seeing all of you!

Walk-Up Window FAQ

Protecting the health and wellness of our communities and our customers is important to us, and so is providing a safe and personal customer experience.  Re-opening our old walk-up windows allows us to provide customers with both safety and face-to-face service.  While we are effectively handling most transactions through our drive-up banking lanes, we can’t wait until our lobbies open to see you again!
The walk up teller window is located at our Maplewood Branch only and is on the east side of the building, along Oakview Terrace.
The hours of the walk-up windows are the same as the Bank’s normal lobby hours:
  • Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Saturday 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Street parking is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on the southbound side of Oakview Terrace (the bank side of the street).  Street parking is limited to 15 minutes.  There is also a parking lot for bank customers on the northeast corner of Oakview Terrace and Manchester.  If using the lot, we ask that you please use the crosswalk to safely cross the street.
Our walk-up teller windows are available for all basic teller transactions, including but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, cashiers’ checks, money orders, transfers, and document drop offs.  There is a secure pass-through cabinet that can handle items too large for the drive-up tubes such as locked night drop bags and coin bags.
  • The number of people allowed in the vestibule at one time is limited
  • There are markers painted on the covered walkway outside to provide guidance on proper social distancing while waiting should a line form
  • The two teller windows are equipped with glass and we have installed a plexi divider between them for additional customer safety
  • We encourage customers to wear masks when visiting our walk-up windows
  • The doors will remain propped open during open hours to allow for additional air flow
  • Shared surfaces will be sanitized regularly
All CNB Bank locations comply with the ADA Title III, Public Accommodations and Commercial Facilities.  The walk-up teller windows can be accessed without the use of stairs, however having been built in the 1950’s, the double doors are more narrow than modern doors and do not automatically open.  Please call us at (314) 645-0666 should you need assistance entering the walk-up window vestibule.  We are happy to assist
Your security is important to us and we want to provide the safest banking experience for our customers and staff.  We have taken steps to ensure the walk-up teller window area is well-lit and monitored both by camera and regular patrols.  While security is taken seriously in and around all our banking centers, we always advise customers to stay alert while utilizing our walk-up teller windows, ATMs, drive-up lanes, and bank lobbies.
